- Used frequency band (e.g. for PMR only 446 or for CB 27)
- The used channel (e.g. Ch06)
- In parentheses the used CTCSS code number (for PMR is recommended (19) to use, this corresponds to the CTCSS tone 127,3 HZ)
- The location of your gateway (e.g. Wittmund)
- The abbreviation for the separation of the country (e.g. NDS)
- The locator (e.g. JO33VN)
A complete example looks like that:

You experience details with the respective server operator, at whom gateway is to be announced.
Over this button a short message can be sent. Everything which in the window for the Comment is written, can in such a way will transfer, this also during someone speak is. This message is indicated in the station window as description of gateway with the own station and can be read of all stations in this area and also over eQSO the system monitor. A user with a radio over a gateway works does not receive this message naturally not. In order to select one of the favorites, on which black triangle right beside the field click and select an entry from the list.
This field is filled out automatically by the selection of a favorite. In addition, a server name or a IP address can be entered and the input of the favorite thereby is ignored. For German servers it is e.g. pmr446-voip.de or pmr446-cbfunk.de.

2.4 Server Password

2.6 See Who's on the system
Over this button a new window is opened (eQSO System Monitor). In this window all servers appear and in sublists the areas as well as the stations at present into these areas are connected. By this monitor one can connect rapidly on other areas on other servers and sees themselves even if in an area a QSO runs somewhere (the appropriate station is represented with a green point). Further details in the chapter 9. QSO System Monitor
Over this button a new window is opened, over which the favorites can configure and be sorted. Details in addition under 6. Edit Preset Servers.
Over this button this web page www.pmr-radio.net/gateway_uk.html is called, for another languages according to another web page.
Over this button the connection to the server is made. If no call signal were entered or the settings of the server are unkorrekt, an error message appears. If the connection is manufactured, the own call signal with the entered comment appears at least within the station range. The call signal is then grey deposited.
Over this button the connection to the server is again separated.
3. PTT and in/output Level
3.1 Line In
If a checkmark is set here, the LINE becomes in in place of the microphone entrance - entrance of the sound map uses.
3.2 PTT (space bar)
Around to send button with the left mouse button or the space bar (on the keyboard) keep pressed. Through receipt will release switched. This function is needed on a gateway only in the exceptional case or for testing, since that is switched gateway by the radio to transmission (with PMR devices by VOX, there the Squelchsignal (COS) with these devices usually not to be measured can.).
3.3 Mic (Vox, Vu, Vol)
These automatic controllers serve for adjustment the signal coming from the loudspeaker of the radio. Completely left is the automatic controller (Vox) for the sensitivity of the VOX. This attitude is very important and should be tested with different radios via gateway.
3.4 Output (Vu, Vol)
Vu is the recording level indicator for the loudspeaker exit of the sound map. With the volume automatic controller (volume) the desired volume can be stopped. The signal stopped here goes to the microphone entrance of the radio.
3.5 Silence Level
The silence level serves for the fact that the VOX is held when speaking, even if quiet passages or Sprechpausen occur.
The automatic controller for the silence level should stand so far as possible left, so that the VOX in the Sprechpausen does not drop. It must be placed in addition, as far as necessarily to the right, thus with closed muting (Squelch) the VOX drops.
In order to make the attitude, can be proceeded as follows:
- Place gateway into a free area not to disturb (in order others).
- The automatic controller for the quiescent level completely to the left push.
- The muting of the radio open; eQSO now Internet sends (to recognize by the blue station window in)
- Muting (Squelch) at the radio again close.
Case 1: eQSO hears to send to closing the Squelch on (white station window) - > automatic controller can be completely left left.
Case 2: eQSO continues to send (blue station window) - > automatic controllers in small steps push to the right, to eQSO stop sending (to recognize by the white station window).
Examine and if necessary readjust the function by repeated opening and closing of the muting in each case.
4. Gateway settings
4.1 Dial-up on Connect (telecommunications)
If a checkmark is set here, the software will start a switched line over a modem, as soon as the button “Connect” is pressed. This option is not very meaningful for a gateway, because a gateway is even continuing usually several hours or in enterprise. During an Internet entrance via telecommunications there is typically however no Flatrate, which can produce therefore high connecting costs.
This check box serves to make after an interruption for the server, the connection again automatically. This can be e.g. helpful, if the Provider disconnectet daily the ADSL connection. Here if a checkmark is set, the connection is automatically repaired, otherwise the connection to the server must be repaired manually over the button “Connect”.
If in this check box a checkmark is set, by the audio signal coming from the loudspeaker of the radio into the microphone entrance of the sound map, the PTT palpation is controlled toward conference servers. See in addition also the settings to VOX, VU and automatic controllers for Ruhepegler 3.3 Mic (Vox, Vu, Vol) and 3.5 Silence Level. This VOX does not have to do anything with the VOX in the menu 7.1 Rig Control Method.
If in this check box a checkmark is set, with over-regulation of the 3.3 Mic (Vu Vol) one back-regulates automatically. ALC = automatic level control.
4.5 Squelch Settling
The attitude of the squelch settling time needs intuitive feeling. This time waits for the software after dropping the PTT palpation at the radio, until something is sent toward Internet. The correct attitude prevents a mutual Aufschaukeln of the gateways in the same area.
Therefore it is to be respectablly made importantly this attitude. Beginning with a value of 1500 ms and reduce this value in the next days in which you gateway observe. If your gateway begins to “bouncing”, i.e. gropes for a sending of the own or another gateway briefly up, the time was too small selected.
Note: The software must be freshly started each mark, if a new attitude of the squelch settling is made.
4.6 Rig Keying

4.7 Transmission Announcement

5. CW/Audio Settings
Within this range the settings for the CW-identification and for ID sending are made.
ID's and receipts should be generally very reservedly used, so that these do not go with the time on the nerves.
5.1 Speed (WPM)
Here the speed in WPM (words per minute) one configures to the CW-identification.
5.2 Frequency (Hz)
Here the audio frequency of the CW-identification is registered. A pitch is according to experience around 800 Hz pleasantly and good to hear.
Here the level of the CW-identification one configures.
5.4 Courtesy Tone
If a checkmark is set here, each mark a receipt (Rogerbeep or text in CW) is sent, if that switches gateway to receipt. In the text field receipt CW can be entered for it or mehrer indications. Detail in addition with 5.7 Courtesy CW.
5.5 ID if Idle
Here if a checkmark is set and to gateway in the Standby enterprise, i.e. it does not take place QSO over the server, then an identification in CW is sent over the radio. The CW-ID is entered in the text field ID CW (5.8 ID CW). The time interval between the sending of the identification (CW-ID) is given by the eQSO server and cannot not be affected by the gateway operator.
5.6 Force ID Enabled
If a checkmark is set here, periodically an identification sent in CW over the radio, also during enterprise on the server prevails. The CW-ID is entered in the text field ID CW (5.8 ID CW). The time after the one ID is sent, depends on the attitude of the server and cannot by the gateway operator not be affected.
5.7 Courtesy CW
In the text field courtesy CW can be entered for it or mehrer indications. The letter E is in the Morse code a short BEEP (Dit) and as simplest Rogerbeep is in such a way used. Is also a K (dah di dah) for coming conceivable.
5.8 ID CW
In the text field ID CW can be entered for it or mehrer indications. Is for example the call signal of the gateway and/or QTH Locator conceivable. In order to obtain a break, can underlined (_) to be used.

Through the settings within the range CW/Audio Settings click are stored and are immediately effective on this button.
5,10 Audio ID Settings

6. Edit Preset Servers
Over the button “Edit” on the main window is opened a new window, over which the favorites can configure and be sorted.
In order to add a new entry to the favorite list, over the button “Add” a further window is opened for the input of the preset servers.
As name any text can be used. In the example the server name was used and with hyphen separated the space name.
The data concerning the server, like server name, port, area, password can be experienced by the respective server operators. Also over the eQSO monitor all information can be found out with exception of the password.
In place of a server name also the IP address of a server can be used.
The port (TCP) is a component of the server address. For PMR radio is usually used the port 10024 or 500.
On each server there are one or more areas. These areas represent a kind Chaträume, within whose each connected station can speak with every different one in the same area. On Swiss servers there are at present the following areas:
On some few servers a password must be entered, in order to receive the entrance. These are usually private servers. Here the password is to be inquired at the server operator.
With this button the entries are stored as new favorite
Over this button the changes are rejected.
Afterwards in order to remove a new entry from the favorite list, with the mouse button first the appropriate entry is marked (so that it is blue underlaid) and through clicks on the button “Delete” deleted.

In this window the desired changes can be made and be stored afterwards with the button of “OK” or be rejected with the button “Chancel”.
6.4 Move up
Afterwards in order to shift a new favorite to another position within the list, with the mouse button first the appropriate entry is marked (so that it is blue underlaid) and through clicks on the button “Move up” a position upward shifted.
6.5 Move down
Afterwards in order to shift a new favorite to another position within the list, with the mouse button first the appropriate entry is marked (so that it is blue underlaid) and through clicks on the button “Move down” a position downward shifted.
With this button the changes in the favorite list are stored and changed on the main window back.
Over this button the changes are rejected.
7. Rig Keying
Over the button “Rig Keying” on the main window one arrives at the following window, where all settings for the PTT and Squelch settings can be configured.
7.1 Rig Control Method
In this range the kind of the PTT control of the radio is stopped. The following options are available:
- Continuous Tone
This option mixes a Subaudio clay/tone to the audio signal over Internet of another station comes. Thus the remote station the VOX remains addressed in the radio also at short Sprechpausen. This is a somewhat more reliable PTT palpation than the pure VOX option. For this purpose the VOX must be activated on the radio. See also further details with the Continuous Tone Setup.
- iLink Board
iLink Board is an interface, which was developed for different modes of operation in the amateur radio, which co-operate with the sound map. This plate uses the control lines RTS and/or DTR on the COM port around Funkgerätesender to grope. This option used must within the range iLink Board Setup the COM port be selected, which is connected with iLink board.
- COM Port
As iLink the plate gives it different other interface circuits, which likewise use the control lines RTS and/or DTR on the COM port, in order to grope Funkgerätesender. This option used to have within the range COM Port Setup further parameters to be configured.
- G8JVW Board
Over this interface I could not find information in the Internet.
If none of the other options can be used for the controlling of the radio transmitter, this is the last possibility. For this purpose the VOX must be activated on the radio. The other options are however more reliable possibilities for the transmitter palpation.
7.2 Continuous Tone Setup
These settings are effective only if during the Rig Keying the option Continuous Tone were selected. With a frequency of 80 HZ a satisfying result is in most cases obtained. If on the radio CTCSS is switched on, the same frequency as for tries CTCSS is used (e.g. frame 127 HZ). The level needed for a perfect enterprise must be determined by trying.
7.3 iLink Board Setup
Here the COM port is selected, over which iLink the board is attached at the PC.
7.4 COM Port Setup
Here the COM Port is selected, over which the interface is attached at the PC. Besides can be used either the RTS or the DTR control signal of the RS-232-Schnittstelle for the palpation of the PTT at the radio. A checkmark in the check box inverse function serves logic of the PTT palpation for the reversal (if the radio is groped, if it should receive actually and in reverse). With the Carrier Operated Squelch interface (control line CTS or DSR) can be evaluated a Squelchsignal by the receiver (if available) over the COM. If at the radio no Squelchsignal is available and/or led out, the attitude VOX can be used.
7.5 G8JVW Setup
Over this interface I could not find information in the Internet. A description of the settings is possible for me therefore not.

8. Audio ID Settings
Over the button “Audio ID Settings” on the main window one arrives at the following window, where the audio files and that can be registered interval for the ID's. The audio ID of entries in the distance to the adjusted interval time are spent in sequence, always. After the last entry again first follows. Sending ID's should be as reservedly as possible used, in order to strain the nerves of the other users not unnecessarily on the same channel.
8.1 Announcement tick time (seconds)
Here the time between two ID sending is entered. This time is always put back, if the server is active/gateway. Sending effected without consideration for the settings of the ID (Cf. 5.5 ID if Idle and 5.6 Force ID enabled) and is in each case sent, if the frequency were free at least the audio ID interval of time.
Through “New” click, the following window are opened on the button.
Announce At tick
The Announce At tick number is a sequential number on the basis those, which are sorted entries in the list. Also a later change causes a new assortment.
Generate Morse Announcement
If a checkmark is set here, in place of an audio file, that is spent in the main window under ID CW registered text as Morsezeichen. An audio file cannot be selected then for this announcement.

9. eQSO System Monitor
eQSO the systems monitor its own program is, that over the button “See Who's on the system” in the main window to be called can. It represents a Exploreransicht of all at present attainable servers. + before a server it means that in or different areas at present stations are logged in. Through these click in Windows Explorer manners opened unfold and the areas and stations which are under it will become visibly on the +-indication.
A green filled out circle shows a station (PC user or gateway) over those at present a discussion runs.
An actualization of the list effected automatically in the minutes pulse or can click between them through on the button “Refresh” to take place.
